Hot Weather and Ais Kacang

Never has the weather been so hot and I wonder how long this heatwave is going to last! Lately, maybe due to prayers for rain (Penang is known for its very pious and God-fearing people), it has rained a little in the afternoons, bringing the temperature down a bit. Even then, we still turn on our fans full blast and use tons of tissue to wipe the perspiration off our face and body.

Hot weather always makes me think of ais kacang and cendol, two of my favourite desserts. I like lots of ice in my ais kacang and less kacang and corn which most people find a little strange. It's best topped with jelly and a ball of ice cream. Nowadays people add in a lot of other ingredients but I always prefer the original.

Cendol is great too for this hot weather!

Just thinking of these two desserts makes my mouth water. I'm off downtown to get them before the stall closes!
