
Commonly known as Blue Pea Flower, it is used as a natural food dye for making Nonya kueh, as most Penangites will know. I am told this creeper plant stands up well to the hot sun and blooms all year long. I believe the flowers I saw are the Double Blue Pea variety and are of a deeper blue-purple hue. You can see below the blue colouring it gives to kueh like Pulut Tai Tai and Pulut Inti.
