Busy Weekend

The bride and groom
Last weekend saw us attending a wedding.  For Mum, it was certainly a welcome change from her hospital routine.  We had been invited by my former employer to his fourth daughter's wedding luncheon held at his residence.  I was also looking forward to it as it meant meeting up again with my friends.  I had heard from the grapevine that some 3,000 guests had been invited, so I was not surprised to see a large crowd milling at the entrance to the house and inside, where tables had been set up under a large canopy.

Mum had been quite excited about "socialising" again and she dressed up in a smart outfit complete with matching earrings. She was not particularly interested in the food but couldn't resist two small cups of ice cream, which is  not so good for someone on dialysis, but then I didn't have the heart to stop her from eating it - after all it was a happy occasion and I didn't want to spoil her fun.

I took a couple of shots of the young bride - she and her sisters had worked in the office before I left, so we were quite familiar with each other.  Also chatted with a few ex-colleagues who brought me up-to-date with what was happening in the office...!

That was the excitement last Saturday and on Sunday afternoon, I brought Mum for prayers at a Sai Centre.  This is the time of the year when hymns and devotional songs are sung for 24 hours at Sai centres around the world.  It would be too long to explain about the significance and benefits of community singing, sufficient to say that it is for peace, harmony and bliss of all mankind.  We hadn't been to a prayer session for some time, so Mum enjoyed herself tremendously, singing and clapping along with the rhythm of the music.

I thank the good Lord that we were able to get out last weekend.  I feel like my batteries have been re-charged, do does Mum!
