Tock! Tock! Tock!

I’ve always been fascinated by this unusual red and gold piece which is kept in a nearby temple’s prayer hall. It is actually part of the paraphernalia for chanting of prayers. I believe it is made of wood and there is a matching wooden stick (not in the picture). The nun doing the chanting uses the stick to beat on it to keep time with the prayers and it gives a light “tock tock” sound! I have seen smaller models but they are not so elaborately designed. Great for helping devotees chant!

Another thing which fascinates me is the way small tea cups (placed on the altar) are arranged to dry after washing. I like the way the cups form a ring round the ones in the centre!
