Wise Words?



"Kow Chan Kueh" is a classic Nonya kueh made mainly from flour, coconut milk and sugar and steamed layer by layer.  Its name means "9-layer cake".  In Malay it is known as "Kueh Lapis", "lapis" meaning layer.  The kueh usually comes in layers of pink and white but nowadays more colours are used.  Kueh lovers like to peel and eat it layer by layer to fully savour its sweet and delicate taste.  The kueh is a must-have for Peranakan wedding feasts, tea parties and other social functions.
