Christmas has come and gone, after weaving its magic spell around us and leaving us with a sweet warmth that enfolds our hearts and homes.
Christmas is truly a festival of the heart and whatever we call it, "Yuletide", "Weihnachten" or "Noel", it is a time of goodwill, giving and forgiving and all things nice. I always feel a little sad when it's over - why must all good things come to an end?
This year, we spent Christmas morning at our Sai Centre singing carols and devotional songs. Mum had been looking forward to this occasion and it was good to see her in a jovial, Christmas mood.
The festive season, unfortunately, is not an excuse to skip dialysis and on Boxing Day, she was back at the hospital together with a number of other patients. I had heard that the hospital was arranging carollers to cheer the sick but for some reason or other, they did not stop by the dialysis centre.
When I went to bed that night, my ears still ringing with Christmas carols, I thought wouldn't it be nice if we kept the Christmas spirit alive the whole year through? To quote Helen Steiner Rice: "Peace on earth will come to stay when we live Christmas everyday."
Merry Christmas again and Happy New Year everyone!
