Guess What These Are ...



I was at the Phor Tay Temple the other day and found to my delight 4 big sieves of ... guess what ... vegetarian "kiam hoo" ("salt fish")! They had been put out in the hot sun to dry before being fried and stored in air tight bottles.

Vegetarian "kiam hoo" is a great favourite with me. Made from seasoned bean curd sheets, its salty tangy taste whets one's appetite and it's especially good when eaten with rice. Some vegetarian shops sell it but nothing beats the ones made by P.T. which are light, crispy and never too salty!
