Corn Remedy

I decided to try another of The Rambling Nonya's cures and this time, it's corn silk for cleansing of the kidneys. I went to a Chinese medicine shop where I was told I could get dried corn silk and I bought a small packet to try out. It was dry and dark in colour, unlike the golden corn silk you see on fresh corn, and if you ask me, it looked quite inedible, but then I'm no expert on such things!

Preparing the stuff was easy. I took a handful of the corn silk and boiled it in a small pot. After about 20 minutes, the water had turned a deep brown. I was told that it should be left to cool down before drinking.

Well, I didn't have the guts to try it out but my maid was willing to be the guinea pig. She drank it carefully and reported that it was actually quite tasteless and not difficult to take.

So if you're thinking of spring cleaning your kidneys, give this recipe a try! I'm told it works!
