It's still early and the Mid-Autumn Festival won't be here until another two weeks or so, but the shops are already selling mooncakes and moon biscuits to tempt mooncake lovers! I was at a bakery near my home recently and was delighted to see that they have mini mooncakes of various flavours - lotus paste, pandan, red bean with egg yolk, lotus paste with pumpkin seeds and many more - I couldn't remember all the names! I bought a red bean with egg yolk to try (top two pictures) and it was yummy, being not too sweet. Apart from traditional mooncakes, the bakery also does Shanghai mooncakes which have a crumbly and buttery crust. They also have very nice gift packs with a combination of traditional and Shanghai mooncakes. Here are some mouthwatering pictures....

So if these pictures don't tempt you to the shops, you must be very self-disciplined and possess an iron will!
